I think this bickering and head-butting needs to come to an abrupt end... there are new members joining and would really like to read and get some info on certain topics, but with stuff like this happening... I think it defeats the author of the post's purpose and leads to a dead end!!!
That's why there's a thread for shit like this... don't be selfish, try to Stick to the posT!!! You've been here long enuff to realize this!!!
C'mon guys... we are not here to get stamps from each other... we are here to dicuss real issues... not to talk about ourselves!!!

if by satanists you mean members of The church of satan, i think your wrong. im a registered member of the church and thats not what its about. its like believing in one's self as a god becuase he/she controls all the good/evil they do. sananism has commandments too. not the same as the bible's but impose strong moral standing. unfortunatley the church is now a corrupt body and im no longer affiliated with them. and i think id be a setist, but my beliefs have changed over the years. everywhere i look i compile evidence for my own beliefs in "god".

out here the temple of set in san francisco use the concept of xeper.. did yours?
I seriously thought I was going to find something worth reading here...I don't believe that Christ (the true Christ, not the shallow narrow-minded Jesus some churches have created) is a racist. I just don't. But instead of reading something that would make me "think"...I got to witness a virtual pissing contest. That's what I love about people who take so much pride in their intelligence...there's always someone else around who thinks they're smarter and wants to fight about it.
I've seen nothing here that I couldn't find in some run of the mill church anywhere in America. Name calling, b.s., and one-upping.
Thanks for opening my eyes, guys.

shame that a dispute between two people over something that has nothing to do with the subject matter can negate the facts in your opinion.. to bad your mind is so easily swayed..

We're discussing the Christ of the Bible; what one are you on about?

maybe some poeple are doing it.
actually the thread is about racist Bible passages.
To Kingpin, you are right, I shouldn't let two very distracted people sway my opinion of this place...
And, in all honesty, I don't believe they have...they have supported my preconceived notions really...People who believe in something worth knowing generally would apologize for a member's behavior and offer a welcome to someone who has never spoken or read anything on their site. It's difficult to open my mind in a place where everyone is so quick to talk down to me. Again, I'll admit I came across like a smart a** in my first post, and I apologize for being so negative. I shouldn't judge everyone here by a couple of wackadoos.
And to Thumbs, yes, I understand you're speaking of the Jesus Christ in the Bible. However, I also understand that there are a gazillion different denominations of Christianity because man cannot agree on who He is. Therefore, why should I believe that what you are saying is the Truth? I mean, anyone can take ten or twenty passages of the Bible and interpret them anyway they please. And also, you seem to refer fairly often to the whole "have any of YOU asked a Rabbi...etc." How many Rabbis did you ask? Why should I believe them about the additions or changes to the Old Testament?
I'm not trying to be contrary so much as trying to understand where y'all are coming from. (And yes, I said "y'all", so sue me.) I would like to determine if this is a place of learning or a place of showing off...does that make sense?
Nobody is forcing these facts on you - if you want you check it out for yourself and live with it , or you ignore them.
We have more important things to do.
There are very racist passages in Old AND New Testament - your faith or version of Bible you use will not change it.
Doesn't one of the commandments say: Don't lie?
Did you think that "don't lie" means also: Don't lie to yourself?

We're discussing the Jesus of the Bible which is a Jesus that we can verify with written published words. Not a Jesus in someone's imagination or opinion. The thread was appropriately titled, and the evidence is straight from the Bible. What more could you expect, or what other Jesus could we discuss with facts? There may very well be another Jesus; but this one in the Bible according to the Bible is racist. You disagree?

Promoting a racist, slavery endorsing religion is offensive, while people who think their eternal soul is in limbo will be willfully ignorant fueling this strife. Passion on this topic comes with the territory.
If you'd like I could start a thread on how even the Bible does not support the notion of eternal damnation. Maybe that would interest Christians more and alleviate some of the pressure on them to be ignorant.
I mean no disrespect. It was a matter of months that I was a Bible believing Christian myself.
Matthew 15:22-26 22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
Okay, okay...I seriously was just tryin' to check all this out, but since I opened my big trap, I guess I have to get involved, eh? And, by the way, Thumbs, you have definitely piqued my interest revealing you have only been a non-believer (for lack of a better word) for a few months. It has been just as long that I have returned to the church...so, as I see it...it could be said that neither one of us has that far to fall/rise in order to meet the other in the middle, no?
Anyway, I misunderstood what this forum/site was really about...or perhaps others have because although I read Thumbs' posts which say that he does not discriminate or feel hate for anyone of Christian or Jewish faith or whatever...I have read other posts throughout the site where people "blinded" by their faith were all but told to get out. And then, here too, folks have said that talking to someone of my belief system is a waste of time. That doesn't speak very highly of any enlightening that y'all may be trying to achieve. Like anyone trying to show "the light" to someone...ya can't kick out the "poor, wretched, blind sheep"...how will they ever learn to see?
So, here's the only point I've been able to look into and have anything to say about (yes, I'll admit that my belief is based more on faith than concrete facts...I'm young in my Christian walk, but old in my former walk in the "world"...I'm trying to learn and understand as much as I can) okay, so like I was saying...
Just following the passage that Thumbs quoted above it reads:
27~"The woman said, 'Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table.'
28~Then Jesus answered, 'Woman, you have great faith! I will do what you asked.' And that moment, the woman's daughter was healed."
To quote Max Lucado, "Is Jesus being rude?....Could it be that He and the woman are exchanging satirical banter?...Could Jesus be so delighted to have found one who is not bartering with a religious system or proud of a heritage that he can't resist a bit of satire?...He knows he can heal her daughter. He knows He isn't bound by a plan. He knows her heart is good."
This story is not a portrayal of a racist God, but of a human Jesus making a point. (In my humble opinion)

3 posts on what topic? What is your primary concern or motive for being here? Defending a racist / slavery promoting religion that is being used as a tool to wage war on humanity?

Don't put words in my mouth.

A Christian runs our IRC channel, and I have a Jew in my top 8 on myspace.

Someone wanted Israel vaporized, and kept calling people names. I urged them to go to a more appropriate forum since they wouldn't stop at my request. Infact I had to deal with hypocricy in pms and repeated thread trashing. I feel bad because they did make some great points here but for the most part they were ruining quality of the forum. They weren't banned and I believe they left on good terms.

Think about the self centeredness of this statement. Is reading here a waste of your time? Do you have nothing to learn? Are the many people that don't participate but read here not benefitting from what you add? If that's so; who's fault is that? I haven't deleted your posts or edited anything from you, so how are you wasting your time?

Then learn what you're preaching before preaching it. I spent 12+ hour days weeks on end reading the Bible. I've read it about 8 times through + intependent studies and listening to Alexander Scourby cds. If you want to discuss; learn what you're discussing.

Are you a Christian or a Lucadoin? Seriously..
Matthew 23:8 8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.
1 John 2:27 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

sorry man,
this looks more like looking for excuse, than looking for truth.
What is your primary concern or motive for being here?
Curiosity, mostly...I was hoping for some friendly debate, but it seems like a rather hostile environment.

I apologize if I misinterpreted what you said...you said it was only months since you were a Bible believing/reading Christian or whatever, and since the Christians I know refer to themselves as believers, I chose the term "non-believer" because I am unsure of how to refer to someone of your faith or belief or whatever.

Um, Thumbs...I think that's what I would expect, since I was pointing out something positive about you...not sure how you interpreted it...but I was pointing out that some of the folks on here aren't nearly as "open-minded" as you or others seem to be. That's it. No ill will intended.

I'm not so sure we're even talking about the same threads here...or the same people. I read a thread by lowercasepeople (I think was the name) and I was just struck by a comment someone made about how y'all had scared the little sheep away. I'm not defending the "sheep's" argument, nor do I recall every detail of the thread (so, please don't beat me to death with details...there seems to be quite a bit of that kind of nit-picking here, too) I'm just saying that it struck me for people to feel that way on a site meant to open people's eyes.

Okay, I wasn't saying that it WAS a waste of my time, darlin'. I was sayin' that others had given me the impression that THEY thought I was wasting THEIR time. Follow me? Completely different. I'm actually finding this all very fascinatiing and have been motivated to do more reading on things, so it's all good as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think I was really preaching. I was voicing my opinion, but not preaching. And I'm not looking for another pissin' contest on how much more you know about the Bible than I do. I'm just a gal (a daughter, wife, and mother) who is looking to learn. Not lookin' to fight, mind you, just to share ideas and learn. I thought that's what this website was about. Was I wrong?

Okay, "seriously" do we not all refer to other authors, philosophers, politicians, etc. Can I not refer to an author without making him my false god or something? I'm pretty sure I quoted the Bible before I referred to Lucado's comments.
Finally, Thumbs, I have no hostile feelings toward anyone here. I apoligized earlier for my smart a** original comment. I have since began reading and cross-referencing some things, etc...
And to Benjamin Freedman, I hope I'm not looking for an excuse. I feel like I'm working on getting to know Jesus (which is why I checked out this forum in the first place). So, far, Jesus seems to be one of those teachers that tested those around them with parables and questions and outrageous statements to see what their thinking was and where their faith was, etc...That's the impression I'm getting, but then again..."I'm young in my Christian walk".
Thanks for y'alls time...I really am learning a few things here...
Whatever most ppl will say to you - it will be honest. (i can guarantee you that for myself)
If you come with verifiable facts, we will look into it.
How many forums do you know, which will do this?
We are not aiming to be hostile, we aim to educate people.
And most of all to be honest, whether its hostile or not.
Or do you want candy instead of facts?
Usually when somebody can't refute our arguments , or have serious debate - they go into crying, oh you're so bad, you're that bad.
Just look at threads about Alex Jones
That's the whole philosophy here - we will not support Alex Jones and his affiliates, cuz we know that he LIES ON PURPOSE - he is not honest.
How can i know then, that he is not fooling us in other things?
Will he lie to us again for years on purpose?
Hypothetically, If you will have to choose a leader of country - will you choose Hufschmid or Alex Jones?
Wont Alex always tell you that Bible is OK to get your vote?
Will it be the same with ppl like Eric?
