Earthlings

Quote:
EARTHLINGS is a feature length documentary about humanity’s absolute dependence on animals (for pets, food, clothing, entertainment, and scientific research) but also illustrates our complete disrespect for these so-called “non-human providers.” The film is narrated by Academy Award nominee Joaquin Phoenix (GLADIATOR) and features music by the critically acclaimed platinum artist Moby.

With an in-depth study into pet stores, puppy mills and animals shelters, as well as factory farms, the leather and fur trades, sports and entertainment industries, and finally the medical and scientific profession, EARTHLINGS uses hidden cameras and never before seen footage to chronicle the day-to-day practices of some of the largest industries in the world, all of which rely entirely on animals for profit. Powerful, informative and thought-provoking, EARTHLINGS is by far the most comprehensive documentary ever produced on the correlation between nature, animals, and human economic interests. There are many worthy animal rights films available, but this one transcends the setting. EARTHLINGS cries to be seen. Highly recommended!

Xlint documentary!

More 'people' need to see this.

They need to see the cruel process and the fat, sadistic butchers that bring

you your din din each night.

If people knew how their 'food' is being 'processed' by these

these butchers, a lot of them, sadistic crazies like dick cheney, they

would cut way down or stop eating these animals, altogether.

FrankenSteer - The Passionate Eye

Quote:
Frankensteer is a disturbing documentary that reveals how the ordinary cow has been turned into an antibiotic-dependent, hormone-laced potential carrier of toxic bacteria, all in the name of cheaper food. Frankensteer exposes the harsh and sometimes frightening realities of how our beef gets to our tables.

According to this compelling documentary, the beef industry, supported by North American government agencies and pharmaceutical companies, has engaged in an on-going experiment to create the perfect food machine. Their goal is to increase speed of production and reduce the cost of manufacture. But there is a price in producing a cheap industrial product. This benign, grazing herbivore has undergone a transformation in how it’s raised, fed and slaughtered. And consumers, by and large, are totally unaware of the dangers lurking in their beloved steaks, ribs and, most especially, hamburgers.

According to Mike McBane of the Canadian Health Coalition, “When you bring a package of hamburger home from a supermarket, you have to treat it as toxic material…”

Frankensteer reveals some startling facts: Every year, 50 per cent of the total tonnage of antibiotics used in Canada ends up in livestock. And every year cattle raised in massive feedlots are routinely dosed with antibiotics even if they are not sick.

Wow, I am saddend. I just watched the pet shop, puppy mill videos. I cried.

I work for a no kill facillity in Clarksville Indiana. We rescue dogs from such kill facillities show in that video. We currently have 87 residents and maintain the capacity for only 60. I feel horrible everyday for these little, free thinking beings, that we have stacked upon eachother. I understand the urge to save lives, but are we really saving their lives in this manor of overpopulation? I feel guilty, and am provoked to do something about it. I am inserting in an email the link to these videos to my boss. maybe it will be an incentive to move along the drawn process of adoption.

Spay and Neuter your pet!!!! It is the only way to prevent these things.

Thank you for the videos.

Testing

http://getactive.peta.org/campaign/diabetes_mice/ wrote:
Diabetes Experiments on Mice Irrelevant to Humans

For decades, countless rats and mice have been used in tens of thousands of painful experiments to study diabetes, a disease in which the body is unable to properly control the amount of sugar in the blood. When certain cells in the pancreas (called the Islets of Langerhans) fail to produce enough insulin or the body fails to use the insulin properly, diabetes results. Experimenters have induced diabetes-like symptoms in rats and mice by injecting them with chemicals that render the pancreas dysfunctional, by cutting into the pancreas, by surgically removing the entire pancreas, or by genetically manipulating the animals so that the pancreas fails to secrete enough insulin.

Recently, scientists at the Diabetes Research Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine discovered fundamental differences between the Islets of Langerhans in humans and those in mice. Using high-resolution three-dimensional images, the scientists observed that while the hormone production centers in human islets are randomly distributed, in mice islets, hormone production centers are clustered in the core. Vivisectors had previously assumed basic similarity between mice and humans islets, but with this new discovery, researchers are advocating human cell-based research as a more accurate and effective way of studying human diabetes.
