Post Request Help With Converting VOB File To AVI (or whatever) Reply with quote
Hi! Folks

I'm not sure if I'm posting this information request in the proper forum or not, but I think this would be the place to "request" help.

I managed to download a movie the other day.

After I downloaded all the files and unzipped them, I got a pile of files which are listed at the end of this message.

I'd really like to convert these files into one or two .avi files or maybe .wmv files.

How would I accomplish this task? What program would I use?

I tried with Nero Recode and ended up with six .mp4 files and now I'm stuck in neutral and not even certain if I was correctly doing the proper trip or not.

Merci Buckets!

Hi! MadThumbs

Oh! I appreciate your quick response.

Yuh know .... I did try that program out .... sort of. I downloaded it about 3 days ago and was a bit paranoid with all the "extras" or other programs which prompted for installation during my install. But, I installed it anyways because I was desperate. (It seemed like about another 3 or 4 programs prompted for installation during the installation of the program you mentioned earlier.)

But, because of my paranoia, I did not give it much of a chance. I fumbled around with it for a short while and then uninstalled it.

Why did you recommend that program inparticular? Was it because it was free?

I used to do mpeg4 encoding from dvd's and install all those programs manually, and go through tons of options, and settings. This program does basically what I did almost automatically (much easier). You won't always get the quality you'd get adjusting things yourself, but this certainly makes it very easy.

Hi! MadThumbs

Okay .... I managed to create an .avi .

I used this program because I already had it within my collection.

Alive DVD Ripper allows you to convert DVD movies to MPEG-1/VCD, MPEG-2/SVCD, AVI, DivX, or XviD formats.

I ended up with 5 .avi files which I'm in the process of "joining" right now and I'm using EMX Movie Converter 2006 v2.0 to accomplish this task.

Thanks for your help.
