The working class is at a disadvantage because employers usually will not keep workers long enough to recieve insurance benefits. Typically, they will stay at a job no longer than sixty working days before getting laid-off. Ninety working days are required in order to recieve a pension. Our income is too high to recieve government insurance but not enough to purchase private insurance. Then there is the issue of the banks who supposedly help us by loaning us money we will spend the rest of our lives paying back unless something happens and we can't work anymore. Then, the bank seizes our houses. We have no options. If we can not work, we starve and have our homes taken away. If we can work, it's not long before we are replaced by cheap immigrant labor or ousted by greedy contractors who aren't willing to pay us what we are worth. Pension plans and above minimum hourly wages, oh these working schlubs don't deserve this... ...So we're stiffed. After spending over $200 on tools and materials needed for work, We're let go. Then we have all these tools that we don't have a use for. When is the next time I'll use the BX splitter? I wonder, and can it be used for something other than it's intended purpose? And should I sell my scratch awl to the crack head across the highway? It would make a good stem pusher, maybe I could get 2 dollars for it. Perhaps, I could convert my tools into paraphrenalia and sell them all. I know how to make a "tobacco" pipe with lineman's pliers. Wire strippers could be used as roach clips, but really, who'd buy it? The myth that the immigrants are hired only to take the jobs americans won't do is pure B.S. There are plenty of americans begging for work opportunities that are offered to immigrant workers. The difference is Americans expect to be paid what they are worth and there aren't many contractors who are willing to pay them very much at all.
