I made this from scraps on the floor of my shop. If you don't have a shop, you may have trouble making this exact rake, but don't let that stop you from making a rake of your own based on this one.
I made this from a discarded drawer front, a 2 inch board, 2 plywood triangles, and several screws.
I used the new Titebond 3 waterproof glue sort of as a test. I want to see how good this new glue is.
Cut a square piece of plywood (mine was 5" x 5") in two at a 45 degree angle, making the two triangles. Then mitre one square side of each triangle to 60 degrees. Make sure you cut opposite sides on each one. You need one for each side.
Cut a handle out of something. I used 2 inch 4/4 oak lumber. Mitre the end of it at 60 degrees to match the triangles. Sand it as round as you can at the other end for a handle.
Cut a plate for the rake head. I used a 3 1/2" x 23" discarded drawer front, but you can just use a board. I almost went with plywood for splitting reasons, but I just had such a handy piece of trsh laying there.
Cut a backer plate for structural stability. I used the same 2 inch piece of lumber, and cut it to 8 inches long.
You also need screws. I used 3 inch for the tines, 2 inch for going through the plate into the handle, and 1 1/4 for going through the handle into the plate.
I glued everything very heavily since it isn't for a customer, and there is signifigant seepage, but that should add to the durabilty, and even waterproof the joints.
I pre-drilled each hole with a 1/8 inch bit to prevent splitting. I countersunk all the structural screws, but not the tine screws. The threads run out right as the tine screws become fully inserted.
