Are we really vegetarians? |
|
Personally I'm an omnivore to the heart because we would have dead Inuit and Eskimos if we were this simple. Regardless I'd like to share this chart that some guy posted and see how we can pick at it.
Have fun.

Not to be a jerk but this website claims to debunk the B12 claim

I'm only asking because I would like to be armed with arguments from both sides for my clients sake.

Hulda Clark and the Zapper on that page. She appears to think parasites cause most diseases, that Zappers actually work (cause she sells them), and recommends (or recommended) micro-waving ALL your food.
B-Vitamins compete in your stomach for absorption, and can also work together. Too much of one can lead to a deficiency in another. They fail to mention this on the page.

This one points out the necessity for it.

There are good points from both sides but what has to be realised is that we are designed to be 'omnivores', meat has other benefits besides B12 (although meat is a very good source of B12 that is easily absobed), such as a rich source of amino acids.
Madthumbs makes a good point about the Inuits ... who lived on a high meat and fish diet, and the only source of vegetable food was from the stomachs of algae eating fish and herbivores. American Indians are also a point in general too, their diet consisted mainly of meat and only gathered berries etc when in season and according to location.
Many animals considered vegitarians also eat meat, such as monkeys etc .... I dispute the claim about the teeth of omnivores, as some 'omnivores' have broad flattened spade shaped incisors, and do not have long curved canines.
Another good point about B12 deficiency comes from Pam Rotella ie ... 1.) Something is competing for your B12 (like parasites). EVERYONE has parasites, and in recent years the problem of disease causing parasites is on the increase ... I am convinced that one of the major factors in defeating cancer is getting rid of parasites, it's the very first problem I tackled when I was diagnosed. IMO it gives your body the ability to absorb the nutrients needed to combat all disease without having to 'compete'.
Parasites are also prevalent in meat and the reason it is wise to only eat 'cooked' meat ... but never at high temperatures as this produces polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and heterocyclic amines (HAs). But then almost all food cooked on high heat produce these.
A sensible 'balanced' diet is best, and one that is easily available, easy to prepare, and cooked by steaming, stewing, or baking at 'reasonably' low tempuratures. A majority of raw foods are also a good thing ... as long as they are free of parasites as even some vegetables contain these microscopic pests, always wash them thoroughly before eating, preferrably in a solution of water and hydrogen peroxide.
Meat soaked in a light solution of hydrogen peroxide helps to rid it of parasites and also tenderizes it.
Never use a microwave to rid food of parasites, as microwaving predisposes foods to produce aflatoxins (highly carcinogenic)
