Leviathan? More of a fire-breathing talking dragon.

I saw that one. It was an example of how theoretically, such a creature could have existed and even offered scientific explanations of how it could breathe fire without burning it's mouth and how it could fly using platinum as a catalyst to convert hydrogen gas found in the beast's stomach into helium making it light enouhg to fly. It was interesting enough but I still don't think dragons exist. I've never seen one.

[quote="ProductOfSociety"]I was watching "the truth about the jesus myth" mini series a while back. I didn't know what to believe until it started getting into buddhism, which i know alot about.
-The incarnation of buddha was not from the "holy ghost", rather a sixed tusked elephant from the heavens (big difference).
-No one know's what day jesus was born, when the roman empire was busy taking everything over they used the catholic church to adopt
pagan traditions. One of those traditions was christmas.
-I don't even know where they got the idea that buddha was born on christmas day Neutral
-Buddha never said he was the greatest among men to his mother
-Jesus never told Mary that he was the son of god, angels did. In fact Jesus never told ANYONE who he was, Peter recieved such information from personal revelation(sp?)
- Aside from buddhism, Krishna had a father. They even talk about krishna's father later in the film.
I don't know where they get all these myths that are "surprisingly simaliar to the story of Jesus." Especially Buddha being alpha and omega, the supreme being, Gautama Buddha only revealed himself to be enlightened. These crackpots are making all this up.
Their just picking out any bit of info that support's there view that all religion is based around astrology. Like them soundbiting bible verses an going "HA, look at that. We're totally right!" While ignoring the rest of the bible
With the first video itself being full of misconceptions and lies what makes you think the rest of this is so factual?
The problem with all these video's/VLogs being a central source of information on this site is that most film is generally biased when it comes to a certain perspective. This one in particular being biased against religion and leaving out any information that contradicts them.

Hi,
I have to ask.Do you remember the start of the presentation, where he tells us it is not his intention to convince us one way or another? But for us to come to our own conclusions regarding the information he has collected.
They can only pick out certain bits of the bible because so much has been lost in translation etc.
If it wasn`t for vlogs, many of us would never see or hear anything on these subjects!I am greatful because it allows me to cross reference for verification.
Do you have any contradictory evidence against them?
My first delve into mystery was with the pyramids,on which i read a fair amount.A lot of that dealing with solar worship.I have always questioned the bible as i am a firm believer in scientific fact. The facts presented about solar movement etc cannot be denied. Is it true that the bible was "constructed" using various religious beliefs,to unite all people under Roman rule? Then why can`t some of that be astrology?(perhaps being the original source of religions based around a"son of god")Perhaps the religions that they combined all originally had traces of solar worship?
Basically i believe religion is false hope.Something man clings to for hope.It was the intelligent people in the world at the time who turned it into a form of population control.Or has it always been that way.....

Well for one science cannot prove how old the earth is, it only has theories and [inaccurate] dating methods.

Science also cannot prove that Gravity is caused by little invisible gnomes pulling down on things. Come on, get real. I've heard people suggest that the almighty Creator put fossiles on Earth to test people's faith too... Do you ascribe to that one, as well?

Listen to bill hicks much?

Well for one dating methods for one have proven to be false within recorded history

ever hear of that snail that turned out to be 120,000 years via carbon dating?

Different enviorments and living conditions give you different results, even for dating methods(do your research). So and if we're wrong within recorded history, and we are unable to test its accuracy(sp?) outside of recorded history(which is what science is based off of- testing) what makes you so sure of its accuracy?

Hell, from this point on dating methods are a pseudo science to me because they can't be accuratly tested past recorded history.

Where do we find the research on dating methods?

It is funny this has come up, because my co-worker is a die hard christian, and nothing wrong to him. I was raised in a christian family but was allowed to think for myself and ask questions. I was speaking to Tim the other day at work, he had asked me where I put my faith and I told him, myself, my friends, my family, what I see and feel. I had told him of growing up in a christian family, up until I was 20 years old, and how I walked away from it. He never once tried to preach to me, well, because I know more about it than he does. It is interesting, however, that he does not claim christianity as religon...yeah, I was blown back. After 2 hours of discussion and realizing it was going no where, we ended the conversation.

I wish I could take the blinders away from his face.

It bothers me, everyday.

cheers
