He's the man ya love to hate hahah!!!
Red Elk, is apparently re-doing Black Elks teachings. For those who know what I mean.
Hi there ~
I too am deeply interested in Red Elk's teachings and have purposed to study them in
depth and master their application. This observation of your's is interesting, but I'm not
yet aware of Black Elk's teachings so cannot really appreciate the comparison. I have
never heard Red Elk make any specific reference to Black Elk, nor have I noticed that
comparison on his own web site, but then again, I was'nt around when Red Elk's Forum
was active, so I cannot comment on whether or not he ever addressed that question.
What I do know for certain is that if you go to Red Elk's website and check his list of
recommended books, he very clearly compares himself to 'Rolling Thunder', not 'Black
Elk'. So perhaps you might care to elaborate further on your precise meaning, for the
sake of those like myself who are unsure of it? Kind thanks.
After posting my reply, I thought I should do a little net surfing for info on Black Elk, and
I learned some interesting things! Based upon what I've since read, I'd now say that Red
Elk is very much like Black Elk in at least one way, but not so much in most other ways. I
will explain what I mean in a minute, but I'd like to start off with a quote from Red Elk on
Black Elk; taken from an Interview conducted by the Spectrum, which is linked to Red Elk's
own website:-
RE: "I was taken for a great ceremony and given the name of Red Elk, which I didn’t
like. I can think of better names for myself. Red Elk, to me, sounded like a very dumb
name. And it was about a year later that I was told WHY I was given the name Red Elk.
Now, I’m very honored.
"Black Elk, in the book, Black Elk Speaks, Black Elk was a great prophet, Wakian. And
he foretold of the coming of the White man, and how the White man would intersect and
intercede the ways, i.e., the religions, the spiritual touch, as well as life, of the Indians.
I’ve been given the name Red Elk because I foretell; my job is to foretell that the White
ways are going away, and the Red ways are returning.
"The Black Elk Speaks gentleman told of how the White man’s religion would encroach
upon ours.
"I, in turn, say now: It is the Red man’s religion—the thirst for the spiritual touch of the
mind, the Face of God, in and through Nature, as well as to Him, personally, the Way of
the True Indian Touch—it’s coming to the Whites. And, believe me, IT IS!
"There are so many Whites—it’s unbelievable—who thirst. Not all have Indian blood.
There’s a tremendous amount who do, just a little speck. And they’ve been searching
and searching and searching.
"I’ve been ordered to teach. And Mr. Bell’s show [with over 20 million radio listeners]
kind-of really put me “out-there”. And I’ve got hundreds of people wanting to learn.
I’m starting a website; it’s raw. The news will go worldwide, how to get in touch with
the Creator—your spiritual growth. The thing that matters to every man and woman,
every child, is not how many cars you can drive, not how big a house you can own.
That’s nice, and there’s nothing wrong with it. But with nothing but an empty heart,
and a thirst that can’t be quenched, IT IS NOTHING! And though I’m a poor man, I’m
probably a richer man than most men on Earth. And so, there it is."
RM: "And, to me, the term Red Elk also implies the Red Road."
RE: "Oh, it does, it does. Black Elk implies the Black Road. And in the circle, there’s a
cross, or a straight line across, and a straight line up and down. And one is Red, and
the other is Black, and they intersect.
"At one time, there was only one line, and on each end of the line was a color, the color
Red; and it’s called the Red Road. But then the Black came in, and crossed over it, just
sliced right through it, didn’t break it, just sliced right through it. That is called the White
Road, even though it’s Black—it’s the darkness of not knowing. And now, those colors
are reversed. Where the Black Road had Black, it is now Red; where the Red had Red,
it is now Black.
"The Indian Way of how to get back to God, in purity, it very much concerns scripture;
it very, very much concerns the Koran; it very much concerns Buddha. It concerns every
religion, regardless of what that religion thinks or feels or believes about each other. Any
religion, and they ALL, with one exception, all religions, all cultures, are trying to find the
Face of the Creator, and they’re doing so in their own cultural way.
"The one exception are those who are perfectly possessed, who deliberately want to be
that way, and go against God in all ways. That is the only religion that is NOT seeking
the Creator, and in truth, seeking love. Those ones seek nothing but power and self-
gratification." [End of Quote]
Now, from the above, it is clear that Red Elk regards Black Elk as a great prophet from
God. It is unclear to me, though, if he regarded Rolling Thunder in the same way. Why?
Well, because Rolling Thunder very clearly stated on several occasions that he was not
a Christian, Buddhist, or anything else, other than a Medicine Man. Rolling Thunder did
not appear to share Red Elk's vision that "Bible is Indian", and "Indian is Bible". That's
Black Elk's vision, specifically, so I am now inclined to say that Black Elk did have a big
influence on Red Elk, in at least one way. It is difficult to see how Red Elk could view
Rolling Thunder as a great prophet, since one would think that a great prophet of God
would at least share Red Elk's vision of "Bible as Indian", but it does not appear Rolling
Thunder did.
Having said all that, it's also important to point out two ways in which Black Elk and Red
Elk are very much contrary to each another. First, Black Elk was into Tradition in a very
big way, both Indian and Christian alike. This comes out very clearly in the online material.
Red Elk, on the other hand, has absolutely no time for Tradition. According to his account
of the Inner Heyokas, there was 13 of them in the very beginning, but one of them started
"Tradition", which resulted in his exit from the "Inner Heyoka" circle; according to Red Elk.
So, that pretty much explains Red Elk's use for "Tradition". Tradition is a "deviation" from
purity, according to Red Elk!
The second way in which the two are very contrary concerns Black Elk's Catholic faith.
It appears that he was very much a devout Catholic, for decades, though it is unclear
just how strong his Catholicism was in his twilight years. Red Elk, on the other hand, has
absolutely no use for "the dweeb in the box", or for any form of "organized" Christianity.
He IS more like Rolling Thunder in that regard. And regarding Rolling Thunder, Red Elk
says the following on his website: "If you want to know what Red Elk is all about, read
this last book. This man and he (i.e. RT) are just about eye-to-eye, identically, as far as
messages to the world and the way of right living." Well, there you have it.
Where the hell did I hear 'undoing Black Elks work' then.... Hmmmm..
There may have been an argument between Black and Red, but nothing too serious.
Look into the 'Inner Heyoka' there is only 13 (or 12) members world wide. (13 is a weird number, appears allover the place in symbols)
But you probably have read a bit about them already.
Red Elk claims he has gone to Mel's Hole. Now, Mel's Hole is one weird story, and, I don't want to spoil the story, so here:

Hi there ~ Thanks for the link to Mel's Hole. Red Elk is full of weird stories, to be honest,
but I like him and feel that he speaks true. I only regret that I found out about him quite
late, almost too late! Five years to prepare for the 2012 unveiling is not much time, when
you think about it. So I have purchased all his teaching materials and am currently in the
process of studying all the books he has rcommended, and searching the web for further
materials by him, like past interviews. If you go to Prophecykeepers.com, for example,
you will have free access to several past interviews of his. They offer much to those who
are able to listen attentively.
Regarding his "undoing" Black Elk's teachings, I would say that is a fair interpretation of
the Spectrum Interview I quoted from. To be honest, though, "redoing" and "undoing" do
not exactly carry the same connotation for me. I can see your meaning better now, but
at first, when I read "redoing", the picture I had was not "undoing" but sort of "repeating"
the same teachings while making some minor adjustments to them. But based upon the
Spectrum Interview, and the little I know about them both, I'm inclined to say 'yes', Red
Elk appears to be "undoing" Black Elk's teachings, in some qualified sense of the term.
The way I acquired the older interviews with Red, was though the program SoulSeek.
Btw, I neglected to mention I have never heard of the 'SoulSeek' Program before; so I
am hoping you might tell us more about it? In closing, I should mention, for the sake of
all those who have never been to Red Elk's website yet, but intended to do so eventually,
that they better do it quick and copy as much of the info and pics there that they care to
have access to in the near future, because all that "stuff" will disappear in the immediate
future. You all have been warned; the window of opportunity is short, for those who care
to tap into Red Elk's teachings. Aho!
