i didn't see the post above. so you mean to tell me that all herbal tea contains fluoride, even if it is grown organically without pesticides? i don't really think that you can honestly state that tea plants soak up fluoride more than anything else as different tea is made from different plants.

I was ready to get some cast iron cookware for wife's bridal registry but after hearing Dr. Mercola in that video I don't know what the hell to cook with anymore. Rolling Eyes

I like glass, and stainless steel. Not sure how safe steel is, and I'm sure it's not good environmentally to produce, but the stuff I have should last past my lifetime. I wonder if cast iron is so bad if it's primed properly (coated with oil, and baked). You can get enough iron from cooking on it to get a stomach ache.

I'll go with glass since I already have stainless steel (that stains).

My husband's step mother has lots of old cast iron skillets of all sizes ranging from 1 egg size to a huge camp dutch oven. She lived with us for 2 years and we always, always cooked with the cast iron skillets. They were very old, however, and made in Canada. None of that made in China crap. But I'm always low on iron, and the cast iron doesn't seem to bother me in the slightest and I adore cooking with it. Retains heat well, cooks evenly and can be put into the oven at any time. But they are heavy.

Keep looking around, there are some good items for cooking out there. Look for some estate sales, you'll never know what you'll find.

I was surprised to hear about flouride in tea. Is this something that's world wide or in North America only? And how much difference in food grown in the states and food grown in Canada, including tea?

We have our own water well, so no flouride there thankfully.

Tea simply soaks up more fluoride than any other food plant I know of. Fluoride is used in pesticides, and in the case of organics: fluorine is used which I believe is equivalent. Best just to quit tea and donate the money you save to some guy running a fake charity out of some NYC prison. There's other reasons to quit tea: it makes you slightly dehydrated, and caffeine tires you. I do drink some very weak coffee, but had quit when recovering from the Silicon Dioxide overdose.

I'm finding bananas now tear me up pretty good. I love bananas and it's hard to let them go. Are they doing something to the banana crops now?

Silicon oxide overdose? From what? I've never heard of it.

I love all the new stuff I can learn here.

Thanks madthumbs!

Bananas are heavily dosed with pesticides, and most I believe are produced from slave labor. Imagine handling the pesticide laden bananas while it's still fresh on them.

The story about silicon is here: http://www.opposingdigits.com/sics/

Basically got it from taking handfuls of supplements, then maintained it from being on pharmaceuticals, and some food products.

Speaking of cooking mediums... what about wood? Put it on a stick, and roast it over a fire, or get a nice flavorful plank of wood and bake something on it.

Many of the Good Eats episodes feature Brown building makeshift cooking devices in order to point out that many of the devices sold at conventional "cooking" stores are simply fancified hardware store items that are sold at grossly inflated prices, and are not as effective as his "homemade" gizmos. For example, in the episode "Flat Is Beautiful", Brown uses a flat un-glazed quarry stone purchased at a hardware store as a substitute for a much more expensive pizza stone sold at a cooking specialty store.

I wonder how it would work as a cookie sheet, etc?
