Usenet's use has been in relative decline, but it remains popular for trading images, songs and other multimedia files.
The lack of a central administrator didn't stop the music labels from targeting Usenet. They went after one specific provider, Usenet.com Inc. of Fargo, N.D.
In their lawsuit, filed last week in U.S. District Court in New York, the labels accused the Usenet company of touting its service as a haven for sharing music in such formats as MP3.
Far from declining. It just keeps getting better. Screw mp3 on usenet. You can download dolby digital, HD and more faster than you can play it on many cable connections. Remember also: they're going after the sharers. There are much more downloaders than uploaders on usenet. People are encouraged not to upload to usenet, and the ones uploading are usually safe behind protocols. I think if they do anything they may disable some servers. There's NOTHING that compares to usenet, and that's why I compiled one of the best resources on it:
"Relative decline", lol. That's what they want the readers to think. Or its wishful thinking on their part.
Yeah, they'll probably try to shut down the servers.

I forget that I used to direct people who whined about free speech, that usenet is about as close as you can get online to that. As far as I can tell, there's no moderation, and no limitations. The non-binary groups are full of flaming, trolling, p0rn, spamming, etc as a result. Free speech isn't really all it's cracked up to be, especially for those with little time. Still a lot of good information does pass through usenet.
