Avoiding Flatulence
*If flatulence is accompanied by stomach pain that persists for several days, seek professional help.
You've probably heard that people who fart a lot live longer. I'm not putting this information up because it's good for your health, but because it's an alternative to pills / pharmaceuticals that aren't.
Anti-biotics and possibly other drugs can interfere with proper digestion by wiping out the helpful bacteria. Irradiated, and cooked foods are probably not going to help much in replacing the bacteria. Enzyme rich foods like raw pineapple (good source of Bromelain) , and other fruits like melon can help with digestion.
Dairy products, beans, brocolli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumbers, oranges, peppers, grains, yeast, and sugars and more can contribute to gas. Avoiding these foods doesn't have to be the answer.
If you don't want to give up beans, you can soak them overnight in some water mixed with baking soda. The baking soda will neutralize the acid in their skins and should eliminate the gas. Another solution I've heard is to eat beans every other day so your stomach retains the ability to digest them better.
Ginger
Ginger aids digestion and relaxes the muscles in the digestive tract reducing blockages and backups. Ginger may also prevent sea sickness.
Fennel Seed Tea
Two cups of this a day is a popular way to ward off flatulence. Make the tea by lightly crushing a teaspoon of fennel seeds and pour boiling water over them.
* Turmeric should not be used if there is a bile duct obstruction.
* It should not be used during pregnancy.
* It should not be used by those with gallbladder disease as it will increase the flow of bile, creating a possible flare-up.
* It should not be used by those on blood-thinning medications.
Turmeric stimulates the flow of bile and other digestive juices reducing gas production.

Hi mate, been very busy lately so I haven't been around much.
Noticed this thread about farts and thought i'd reply. Recently (last 2 weeks) I have decided to turn my life around as I was hitting the scales at 144 kg which I found disgusting as well as dangerous to my health. I used to eat all sorts of garbage, pies with chips, lollies, crisps lots of bread and very few fruit & veg.
At the moment i'm on a meal replacment that replaces 2 of my meals and for a meal I am having stir fried or steamed green vegies (non starchy). Since starting this diet I have almost stopped farting which is a bonus as I used to drop some whoppers that would have put a B-52 full of bunker busters to shame!
BTW I have already lost 3 kg's and i'm finally feeling great, going for a 7 kilometre walk each day helps as well.

ROFL!!!!!
After I make homemade baked beans, the whole household becomes musical. lol I was told putting mustard powder in stuff like that helps with gas.

OH no not beans! They are lethal and deadly. I remember when I was in the navy cadets when I was about 15, they cooked up baked beans on toast for lunch one day. And I got rostered for guard duty that night. But when I came off duty to go to bed I instead slept on board one of the old patrol boats we had as the smell in the dormitory of stale bean farts was horrendous. But nothing beats a nice feed of beans with chopped up frankfurts in them on toast..yummy! (but off the menu for me for a while)
The Germans are funny, they have an appetizer they call "Handkäse mit Musik" (cheese with some onions on top, mit=with). The music is the farting that results. lol

You can soak beans over night in a solution of baking soda which should neutralize the gas causing acid in the skin of the beans.
