Post Dennis Kucinich - Democratic Presidential Candidate Reply with quote
This guy caught my eye when I read he was one of the few congressmen who voted against the Iraq war.

Here is his bio:

Quote:
Domestic policy record

Kucinich is one of 75 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives of the United States National Health Insurance Act or HR 676 purposed by Rep. John Conyers, [11] which provides for a universal single-payer public health-insurace plan of the type supported by most Americans.[12]

Kucinich voted against the USA PATRIOT Act. His voting record is not always in line with that of the Democratic Party. He voted for the resolution calling for an investigation into President Bill Clinton's role in the Monica Lewinsky scandal, while most of his party opposed this resolution.[13]

Kucinich crticises the revolving door between Washington and industry; the move by some senior Bush Administration officials from senior government posts to senior jobs in the industries that they were supposed to regulate.[14]

Kucinich criticized the flag-burning amendment and voted against the impeachment of President Clinton. His congressional voting record has leaned toward a pro-life stance, although he noted that he has never supported a constitutional amendment prohibiting abortion altogether. In 2003, however, he began describing himself as pro-choice and said he had shifted away from his earlier position on the issue.[15] Press releases have indicated that he is pro-choice and supports ending the "abstinence-only" policy of sex education and increasing the use of contraception to make abortion "less necessary" over time.

He has criticized Diebold Election Systems for promoting voting machines that fail to leave a traceable paper trail, and posted internal company memos on his website in which company executives promised to deliver the 2004 Ohio election to Bush.[16] He was one of the 31 who voted in the House to not count the electoral votes from Ohio in the United States presidential election, 2004

I agree with most things except his stance on pro-choice and I'm not sure about universal health coverage. The people earning an income above a certain cut-off point should buy their own insurance. The government -sponsored health coverage should be for people who can't afford to buy health insurance.

Foreign policy record

Kucinich has criticized the foreign policy of President Bush, including the 2003 invasion of Iraq and what Kucinich perceives to be building American hostility towards Iran. In 2005, Kucinich voted against the Iran Freedom and Support Act, calling it a "stepping stone to war." [17]

Kucinich has also been a strong opponent of space based weapons and has sponsored legislation, HR 2977, banning the deployment and use of space-based weapons.[18]

Kucinich advocates U.S. withdrawal from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) because, in his view, it causes the loss of more American jobs than it creates, and does not provide adequate protections for worker rights and safety and environmental safeguards. He is againt the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) for the same reason.[19]

He believes the U.S. should move aggressively to reduce emissions that cause climate change due to global warming[20] and should sign a major international agreement signed by over 160 countries called the Kyoto Protocol to reduce the amount of greenhouse gasses emitted by each signatory.[21]

He would be my choice of Democrat as president. Ron Paul is my choice of Republican president.

The mass media is ignoring both of these candidates (naturally).

I forgot about the gun ban bill. I don't agree with that. I think the Second Amendment should be kept. Citizens need their arms if they ever mount an insurrection against the government.

Because the VT president banned guns on campus, the students were sitting ducks. There should be laws preventing gun ban rules.

I saw this on his website, an interview with David Letterman. The part where he talks about how he met his wife is a hoot. I love how Letterman ends the interview with the quip: "You got my vote."

In the end, America will get the president she deserves. Even if Diebold decides who gets to be president.

The point I don't get is why Christians are so eager to say you can not have an abortion.
if they don't believe in abortions thats fine they don't have to have them there is no one going to force them into it.

But it seems to me to be mind boggling for them to dictate what the rest of humanity should do.

its anti American to dictate to others your morals
We live in a world where over population is a big issue today, yet we are to believe that Christians will dictate to the universe what will be and will not be
John Hagee has nothing to share with me I don't accept that he is Christian.
Should he be dictating to the rest of us.

sounds like a communists plot if you ask me
I believe in god but my god doesn't condone voting for war mongers and dictating to everyone the views of Hagee or any other so called Christian
where were the big names in Christianity when the war was starting in Iraq
well Hagee was cheering it on.
the other Christian leaders more concerned with money matters than to speak out for humanity
and these people are suppose to be the ones to dictate to me or anyone else about morals
Jesus camp kids crying worshiping
pictures of Bush it is more akin to voodoo than Christianity if you ask me
At any rate we would all get along well if we stopped telling others what they can do. stop looking down at others. its ok to have homo (Sapien )
priests and thats ok but for a girl of 16 to have an abortion oh my god the sky is falling
christians will kill you if you are an abortionist this is fanatical akin to Hitler's SS
