There are some solid points in that video. However, the way in which America was "founded" cannot be ignored. The Eurocentric colonialist ideal which paved the way for America's established power structure (which in turn creates a hierarchical / classist top-down system) unavoidably installs what is known as White Privilege. This invisible social norm called White Privilege is a real product of the way in which America was "founded". It isn't just some "made up" term due to "lack of evidence". There is more than enough evidence to prove the existence of White Privilege:

Additionally, Anti-Racism isn't perfect. But it is necessary in exposing the installed racist paradigms which are in turn, a product of the top-down hierarchical classist sytem (which is ultimately a creation of the racist religious Judeo-Christian echelon of power). This is why it is imperative to also expose the history of how such mechanisms came about. Obviously, the denial of the existence of "race" cannot make everyone happy. In order for racism to exist, there first needs to be the idea of "race". From that point onwards, racism can create more complicated issues. It is through complication that a problem becomes more difficult to solve. Therefore the removal of the idea of "race" will reverse this complexity. In other words, it is fundamentally harmless to suggest that "race" is an illusion. But it is easy to attack such a suggestion because of all the complexities which racism has built for itself that people are always bound to be displeased somehow.
Yes it is true that Humanity is very genetically diverse and mixed (this cannot be denied); but if we were to use our common sense and trace ourselves back long enough, we would probably discover a singularity of our origins. The diverse "races" we see today are really nothing more than variations of the same thing (Humanity). So I don't see how the elimination of the concept of different "races" is really harmful, except to racists themselves -- who of course wish to preserve racism and conceal the harmful privileges which are involved in that dynamic. Racism and all of its continuously mutating complexities need to be exposed; that includes all of its supporting spin arguments and such.

James Burke - Balanced Anarchy |
|
 | | This short clip comprises the main point of James Burke's excellent series- the day the universe changed.
Against a backdrop of a Buddhist monastery, high in the Himalayas, James Burke envisions a utopic future. Stopping just short of presaging the singularity, communities like digg and /. are quite obviously foretold.
I'm quite surprised that this hasn't been heavily sampled for electronic music. |
