Depends on what science you're talking about. If you're talking about mainstream classical Newtonian (Particle) Physics, then you're correct. It is a primitive science based on materialism. However there is an unstoppable scientific revolution that has been silently creeping up behind the scenes for many decades now. It's called Quantum Mechanics.

Unfortunately, just like the religious establishments today, the atheist movement is also for the most part, pretty much ignorant + clueless when it comes to Quantum Mechanics. This is why I just stay away from any dogmatic debate between the religious people and the atheist people; for both hopelessly depend on each other in order to continue perpetuating a social divide which serves to keep the Self from realizing its true nature (Quantum Non-Locality).
