RIAA Will Drop Cases If ... |

 | | RIAA Will Drop Cases If You Point Out That An IP Address Isn't A Person
from the and-so-it-goes dept
For years, the RIAA has claimed that having the IP address of a computer that has shared unauthorized files is the equivalent of having the evidence of who was actually sharing files. That, of course, is false. The IP address simply can help you know who paid for the internet access, but not who was using what computer on a network. In fact, this even had some people suggesting that, if you want to win a lawsuit from the RIAA, you're best off opening up your WiFi network to neighbors. It seems like this strategy might actually be working. Earlier this month the inability to prove who actually did the file sharing caused the RIAA to drop a case in Oklahoma and now it looks like the same defense has worked in a California case as well. In both cases, though, as soon as the RIAA realized the person was using this defense, they dropped the case, rather than lose it and set a precedent showing they really don't have the unequivocal evidence they claim they do. The RIAA certainly has the legal right to go after people, even if it simply ends up pissing off their best fans and driving people to spend their money on other forms of entertainment -- but, if they want to do so, they should at least have legitimate evidence. It's good to see that some are finally pointing out how flimsy the evidence really is. |

i boycott all musicians who support this
- some of them are making millions (Metallica - biggest promoter of it all), and they still complain and jail people.

Personally i think they cant stop file sharing full stop!!!!! There is allways going to be a better way to share and they cant stop it!
The DRM protection they are slowly introducing is the biggest load of shit on the planet:
1. It can be easily hacked and has been although the hackers are staying quiet untill its mainstream so they dont change it again
2. It only stops you seeing the super high definition (that most tv's including plasmas cant get better quality with)
I think that musicians are paid WAYYYYYY too much and besides it mainly the zionist controlled companies that promote the music who make the most!!!
I am willing to bet money that if musicians gave their music for free to everyone and only charged for concerts then we would have the best ever music in the world and everyone would make tons of money, except the zionist midle men who have no skills but knowing how to steal what is rightfully not theirs!!!
Thats my 2cents worth (oh sorry right its 5 cents with inflation now hehehe)
Cheers
Chris

Simple solution is to have a network storage drive that you can disconnect at the whim and even have it hidden in your roof or wherever!!!
As there is no law not allowing you to have bittorent or limewire etc, just not downloading movies etc
BTW watched flight 93 (or whatever that zionist movie is called) so full of shit it makes me cry............... i thaught they had box cutters but now they supposedly had knives!!! hahahah bloody media
cheers

CD's and DVD's are overpriced.
These companies don't even buy blank discs to burn onto,
they're the manufacturers of the discs.
Each CD or DVD costs about 5c to make.
The simple solution would be to halve the price
that consumers pay to buy CD's and DVD's.
If they were cheaper people would buy them.
In fact, halving the price of a CD would probably mean
more than twice the sales of CD's and DVD's.
Simply they are overpriced.
And the Record Companies get most of that money.
The musicians get ripped off by the Record Companies.
5% of the CD price goes to the artists.
I can't wait til they crumble.
Musicians have the technology to create, record and print their own CD's now..
they can sell them at gigs and on the internet.
And when they do sell a CD, they get to keep all the money.

I dont think that would work at all as we can download the music much cheaper then even half price
I think if they made their music available for free and just charged for concerts, they would make just as much money, avoided the middle man (record companies) and we would have a lot of better quality music. Also the "Manufacturing" of bads would become history!!!! Just as it should be
Cheers

I think if someone makes music they should be able to charge for it and earn well off it. Personally i dont like DRM but yahoo are launching a no DRM store for mp3s so thats progress to me. A lot of the companies dont understand theres just some people who wont pay for music and will always try and download it, if you like the music its good to support sometimes the prices arent so bad here other than world music which is a ripoff

I hope the music companies are paying you well!!!!! how is it reasonable that music companies get around !15 dollars Australian per cd album yet the artists get 70cents (australian dollars)???? Take a long walk off a short pear mate!!!

p.s. nice to see you dont see money as everything, as not all of your fans could afford a cd yet they want your music!!!
