Cannabutter |
|
My roomie showed me how to make it.
1/4 lb (1stick) of butter
no more than 1/2 oz. of marijuana
* be careful:the more herb you use, the more potent the product.
Directions:
In a saucepan, melt butter slowly on low heat. (you don't want the temp. too high or it will make the butter sizzle and burn away) break up the buds (you can just put it in a food processer) It is not necessary to remove the seeds. Add ground up cannabis to the melted butter. Do not simmer, If this happens, turn the heat down a little. Stir constantly until mixture turns dark brown. Strain liquid into a bowl or food storage container. Stick it in the fridge and let it cool. This is your finished product.
*It is important to strain it so you don't have parts of the plant in the butter. Most of the THC will absorb into the butter (the cooking process works sort of like a vaporizer). There is no need to keep the "cooked" marijuana particles since the majority of THC has been absorbed into the butter.
The finished product: you can use cannabutter as a spread or for cooking and baking.

This post was needed, thanks!
I've left butter long behind. Olive oil in most cases replaces it for me, and occasionally raw coconut oil. I'm sure both of these can get THC injected the same way.

To answer the question about using oil instead of butter: You can use the same process to absorb THC into your favorite cooking oil if you like. All you do is substitute the butter for 1/2 cup oil. As long as you keep the heat low, It works. Try for just below simmer. We did that with vegetable oil, strained the solid plant parts from the infused oil and used it to make brownies. It worked great.

haha, i had to look up just now how to prepare olive oil spread. BEWARE FOLKS ITS sexual intercourse DIFFICULT. I should try that next time. Do you just place it in an old butter/Tupperware-like container in the fridge or what?

I rarely eat or buy bread. If I do eat it, I'd just dip it in some olive oil with maybe some fresh ground pepper, basil or other herb. On popcorn, it doesn't need to be melted. Hemp or Hazelnut oil is good for popcorn too.
A good chart for determining what oils to use for things: http://www.opposingdigits.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4376

Yes, it works very well. Better for you than smoking too. Great for medicating yourself inconspicuously..depending on the dose, of course. Note that, in my experience, you can get much higher by eating it than by smoking it. It takes about 30 minutes (depending on your metabolism) to begin to take effect, so wait a while before taking more. Avoid blowing past your comfort level and getting freaked out.
