I couldn't resist. Seriously though racism is just a ploy to get us to fight amongst one another. I'm not white and I know most white people aren't out to get me or other people of color. The ones you really have to be careful with are those Darwinian Freudian types at the top portions of the pyramid. They use the fact that they are white to brainwash the ones at the bottom of the money scale. It worked quite effectively during slavery and until now. They're as brainwashed about us as black people are about them. Many of us have moved on about what occurred in the past. That is those that understand that most white people have been screwed almost as much as the darker shades. Lack of understanding is what breeds racism.

Exactly in fact I remember reading somewhere that slavery was stopped because it was no longer necessary. I think that the end of slavery was already in the works before hand to move us into the Industrial Revolution. Just a hunch.

Everybody has a right to be proud of who they are. That includes being proud of their race and heritage, as well as their religion(or lack of one), sexual orientation, political agenda and just theyre personality in general. I agree with some aspects of the original post, however, with the way that it is worded, it sounds like the poster is trying to make white rascism okay, rather than make black rascism not okay. Whether or not blacks were slaves in the past, should not affect how they are treated today. Everyone should be treated EQUALLY. If my great grandma was burned at the stake for being a witch, should I be able to go to college free? Or should I have to work just as hard as everyone else?
It's a good thing that different ethnic groups celebrate their heritage, however it is not fair to have special days or months set aside to be dedicated to these people, because not every group can have a day or month with which to celebrate themselves. And wanting to have such a thing is a bit conceited as well. Be proud of who you are, but don't push it to ridiculous limits.)
Every ethnic group(Yes, this includes whites, which you have to remember, "white" isn't our race, "white" is the color of our skin. We are Irish, Italian, Russian, Norwegian, French, German etc.)has suffered at the hands of others. Some more severely than others, but still. If we keep living in the past, we can never progress. How are we supposed to all be equal, if one race is given special rights over others because of what our ancestors did to theirs? Remember, race favoritism is still rascism.

And to go off of what Lizz said about Muslims, it's not true. Clearly we should not hate them just because they are Muslim, but sacrificing yourself for God (in the Koran) means that you have a direct ticket to Heaven, rather than having to wait in a sort of purgatory before being chosen. It means that seventy two dark haired virgins will be waiting for you when you go there. The Koran encourages the killing of those not of the Muslim faith. However, not many people people actually follow religious texts, and the few that do are known as "extremists"... or to us "Muslim terrorists". I know a fair share of muslims who have no idea their holy books say this and would never dream of hurting anyone. This is why we should not hate Muslims... rather the Koran.
And I disagree, just because these are religious values does not mean that we can't interfere. If certain things seeming to be harming others, we have every right to step in. Religion is "supposed" (that would have been underlined) to help people, it's not meant to make to help people be mistreated. They can still have culture without enslaving women.
For my last point, I would just like to emphasize the importance of equality. We need to forget the past, because it hinders us. We can't possibly just be people if it is so important for us to identify ourselves by merely the color of our skin, it creates a barrier between races and could lead to nothing but racism.[/color]

Which color produces the serial killers? Which color is most responsible for dumping Depleted Uranium, Nuclear Waste, and Bombs everywhere? What color of people are selfishly creating the worst impact on the environment? This may sound self-hating, but the point is that we should be disgusted with humanity instead of ignorantly proud. People who rally in racist groups tend to have no pride in themselves. We should be proud of ourselves and our accomplishments; not proud of our man-made groupings.
Two thousand years ago, my Roman ancestors were killing and enslaving my Germanic ancestors. Only a few centuries later, my Scandinavian ancestors were murdering and pillaging my Germanic and Roman ancestors. 1300 years ago, my ancestor Charlemagne launched a Christian crusade against my Saxon ancestors, killing tens of thousands. Five hundred years ago, my European ancestors came to America and slaughtered my Native American ancestors. Only a few years after that, those same European ancestors arrived in Asia and exploited my Chinese ancestors. And here I am, the product of chaos and conflict, descendant of so many warring factions that hated each other based on race, religion, or simply the pursuit of power. What am I? I am human, just as we all are. Every day I look at the world and ask the same question: "Just how hard is it to see things the way I do?" Is it naive to believe that people are capable of living without this racism? This is a battle I literally fight every single day of my life. I have so much to say I don't even know where to start, yet I am so exhausted I am afraid to start because I tend to get worked up. I have seen that bulletin before but it doesn't make reading it any easier. I hope to tell you how I really feel within the next day or so, after I get some rest. In the meantime, I will just point out what I feel to be some obvious fallacies in the bulletin.
The first and most important goes out to those that have read this and agreed 'yes I'm not a racist but its true.' I hate to break it to you, but you are a racist. You don't have to be violent to be a racist. You don't even have to vocalize your feelings to large crowds (or anyone for that matter) to be a racist. I think it is a common misconception that to be racist you have to overtly act out. You don't have to belong to the kkk, you can be a so-called upstanding member of your community. Check your dictionary's.

These words are words of hate. They are not pet names, they are not terms of endearment. Each and every one of these terms become widely used in a time of extreme hate and violence towards that particular group. There is no need for them and these words are used only when wanting to inflict pain or insight anger.
These two statements are presented to make it look like there is a double standard, that somehow its white people who are suffering from racism. When the truth is they don't belong together at all, it is even worse then apples and oranges. I have checked my history books, I can't find a single reference to white people being referred to these ridicules words let a lone while being harshly persecuted. There isn't a comparison here and if you think there is, you are a racist.

I will keep this short because this has been touched upon. This is a dangerous generalization and a gross display of ignorance. Its implying that when black people live in an area then that area will become violent...because they are black? There are many, MANY factors that contribute to the violence that takes place in the 'ghetto'. To say black people are more violent then white people based on crime rates in the 'ghetto' is just gross negligence.
And white people need to wake up, because white people are the most violent people in all the lands through all of time. Serial killers are usually 35-45 year old white males. As are pedophiles. The number one killer of pregnant women is by the hand of their baby's white daddy. We start all the wars, we kill entire cultures on a whim, we commit horrific acts even on each other.
This statement would only be true if it simply stated "white people commit a lot of violence" the end.
OK this is already taking longer then I thought so I am switching styles here.
It says 'you have Martin Luther King Jr day' Actually, we have MLK day. I have a lot of respect for that man, he should have a day not because he is black but because he was a great man. I am a true believer that violence does not solve anything, that violence only feeds violence. I would almost say its human nature to want to hurt someone like they hurt you if not more. Read up on what that man was personally put through and what he took a stand against.
But if it has to come down to black or white, we have presidents day.
The 'white pride day' doesn't make any sense because there isn't a 'black pride day' at least that I know of.
Wanting 'white history month' does make you racist and completely retarded because every other month of the year is white history month! White history gets 11 months, black history gets 1 and its even the shortest month of the year!
Same kinda goes for that 'white entertainment television' thing, tv is largely made for, by, and with white people and thats the bottom line.
I have so much more but I grow so tired. I am forced to let this be, while I am almost sure I still make sense.
Strangely enough, there are many educated people out there who fail to see the obvious. Ethnocentrism is the problem in most 'racism' discussions.
Example: American Indians have difficulty with alcohol...not ALL but many. Why?? Ding, Ding, Ding, the anwer is....THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT needed to put a 'bandaid' on the shameful history of its activities concerning that particular group inhabiting America. (We're famous for that if you just take a looksie).....The Government of the United States of America thought it could "fix" the problem by giving the man of the house a job and a HOME!!! The only problem with that 'solution' is that most Native American societies are MATRIARCHICAL!!!!!!!! (Translation: Woman holds the keys to the kingdom)
Effect of such short-sightedness?? Women with no sense of purpose; men with no idea what to do with their newfound role in society, and the list goes on and on and on. NOT being ethnocentric, and actually putting myself in the shoes of a woman in that culture, I'D HAVE BEEN PISSED and put out and without any direction whatsoever as to what to do next.....may turn to drink? Who knows....if enough did just that, it would make sense that it would have a 'tricke-down' effect.
Racism is a false sense of self to begin with. I am an AMERICAN of Irish/Sicilian decent. I take great offense at folks who choose to put their 'ethnicity' ahead of their Americanism. That is what is tearing our country apart slowly but surely....we NEED TO BAN TOGETHER!!!
Personal insight to the whole racism discussion: I am a burn survivor. I am, in fact, an 86% burn survivor. At a gathering of other survivors from around the globe, I met a black gentleman. He was injured in a chemical incident. I looked at his hands...they were as WHITE as mine. He told me that the paramedic, against his pleas, took his gloves off of him after the chemical spill. Off came his "blackness"
I took hold of one beautiful hand and just held it between mine. He was obviously a little confused by this action, but didn't say anything....I COULDN'T SAY ANYTHING. I was realizing something that I wish everyone on earth could see, feel, and relish in. WE ARE ALL THE SAME UNDERNEATH IT ALL. And by that I am NOT referring to COLOR!!!!! Not at all. But in that instant, I saw the RIDICULOUSNESS of all the racism in all the world over all the centuries since man has inhabited this glorious blue planet.
Racism must, therefore, go deeper than any of us realize....it has to live in a place in the human condition that needs cleansed BADLY!!!
My hope is that everyone can see the inhabitants of this earth as connected by something other than their outward appearance....as a survivor of a horrific burn injury, I learned that lesson on a very personal level. I truly hope that others can come to some of the same conclusions I have come to in other, 'less painful' ways....hehehe

Thank you for your wise words here and what followed MiLeenaLee. I vowed I would never post personal replies here again ... (because of a form of prejudice that relates to racism in it's prejudicial opinions). Your post points this out very well and in a language I put aside because of the difficulty to get through to some people because of their biased (prejudicial, racist) views.
The words bias, prejudice, and racism are related in more ways than the average person ever considers. They creep into our daily lives without ever giving them a second thought until something 'extreme' becomes evident to put it 'up there' in the headlines. Very few people have 'tolerance' for anothers views if those views conflict with their own, and so display 'bias', prejudice or racism, while still believing they are being 'impartial' or totally correct.
So thank you for pointing out some very important views on this subject, I look forward to more views from you, it makes it very gratifying that there are still some of the 'human race' still here and 'intact'.

I don't know what parallel universe you come from,but in the real world,it is under qualified people of color who get the breaks that programs such as affirmative action give them. And as far as the so-called criminal "justice" system is concerned,you really need to look at what motivating force is behind it-GREED.Being locked up isn't a pleasant feeling(yes,that is coming from the voice of experience)but I can gauruntee you that probation terms are NOT lighter sentences,and could it be that whites(who I must admit are usually a little better off financially than most people of color)
get probation terms because the fines the system incurs from probationers FUND the incredibly corrupt system in the first place?Man,being in jail ain't sexual intercourse' nothin nice,but having the threat of jail or prison being held over your head every sexual intercourse time you come up short for your monthly probation fees is nothing less than psychological torture.
